Royal Masonic Trust For Girls & Boys- Strip Out Works Great Queen Street-W1
The Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys was established following the amalgamation of two previously separate institutes for Girls and boys. The overall aim of the organisation is to relieve poverty and advance education of children of all ages. The buildings latest use was for office space with a restaurant and shop unit operating out of ground & basement levels and offices ands flats on the upper.
HA Marks were appointed to carry out works on this a listed building, such to include; Protection to listed fixtures and fittings, Internal strip out works to the existing building fabric including isolation and disconnection of existing services, asbestos removal, removal of internal partitions & ceilings, fixtures & fittings. There were 3 tenants, a restaurant and two shop units on the ground floor which were to remain fully functional at all times.
This project posed technical difficulties in that the existing electrical, water and BT data were poorly mapped. These had to be redirected or disconnected & a new separate fire alarm installed to the restaurant. The site was very restricted for space therefore careful co-ordination of deliveries and removal of waste was required while maintaining a high level of public segregation at all times.
Upon completion, HA Marks carried out a structural survey at the clients request and provided suitable propping where necessary. These works were executed successfully through close tenant liaison and involved minimal disruption to businesses below.
