Swaffield Primary School
Kitchen & Dining Room RefurbishmentWorks were completed in October 2010 of a kitchen and dining room at Swaffield School. The building is split over two floors with the kitchen on the ground floor and dining room on the first floor. Existing dividing walls were demolished within the dining room and steels installed to create one large area.
Studwork was erected to separate the servery area from the dining room. A goods hoist, which also serves the kitchen and a roller shutter, was installed within the servery area. Whiterock was installed to the servery walls .which is a clean and wipe-able surface. The floor area was latexed and an Altro floor was laid with coved up skirting.
The existing kitchen was stripped out along with all the M & E services. The ceiling and interior of the hoist was fire boarded for fire purposes. New ventilation was installed along with a heater battery. A complete new mechanical and electrical system was installed within
the kitchen/dining room, which also incorporated controls for the gas system and heater battery.
Electric installation included new circuit distribution board, small power and dado trunking throughout and new light fittings supported within the new suspended ceiling. Mechanical included a new boiler, cylinder, pressurization unit and new radiators throughout.
Close liaison with the school building management was necessary to overcome all grounds of concern from security, noise and all other aspects that arise from working within an occupied and sensitive environment.
